Can’t Dance” is The Coyote’s funky new Rock single. Running for 4 minutes and 7 seconds, the track is a web of sounds that they spun together to create a web in which the man in this hypothetical is stuck, just waiting to be eaten by the spider crawling towards him. With each strand of silk, the 4-boy-Boone-based-band (sorry) uses a different instrument to create one of the threads, all leading to the spiral where this man is caught. Trapped in a relationship that is doomed, as this girl does not have time to waste, and there have been too many complications and rumors for things to go on; unable to right his wrongs, the boy awaits his impending fate. He truly cannot dance around what is bound to happen.

Alright, that’s all for being pretentious, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk about spiders. I have had the pleasure of seeing The Coyotes multiple times, as well as watching them grow into what they are today. Some of these shows include Accident Prone and Hillside’s Summaween festival on June 26th, 2021, and the Homeplace (R.I.P.)’s May 7th, 2022 Hawaiian Hoorah show. I actually took some (very low-quality) pictures at the latter, which are below. Anywho, they are a wonderful band, and their sound is something original and rare that gives off old-spirited vibes. This single is no exception, as the instrumental is one-of-a-kind, creating a mystique, energetic wave of emotion. They break down the ins and outs of a failing relationship in a way that is fun and thorough. Overall, the song is energizing and refreshing, while also maintaining a foreboding and ecstatic aura. I’m excited to hear more from them and see them perform more!

EDIT - 6/22/2022 at 12:01 AM: I somehow missed the main concept of the song, even though it was smack dab on the cover art. The track is about our failing relationship with the Earth! This is evident because there are multiple references to mistreating it, and how it does not have time to waste. The “she” is Mother Earth, it is personifying her as a person, whom, in my initial interpretation of the song, was this girl, or the spider, who was one part of this failing relationship, and the spider that was going to eat the guy; in my opinion, though, all three viewpoints work, it’s just a matter of perception.
