If you have not heard of Tony Shhnow yet, now is a great time. He is a versatile LAX native who has been taking the Atlanta Plugg scene and the underground at large by storm for quite some time now. “Don’t Look At Numbers (Lost Kids Edition)” is a remix of the 3rd cut off his latest album, the critically acclaimed Reflexions. The track runs for 3 minutes and 37 seconds and was released on August 19th, 2022. He enlists none other than Brent Faiyaz, who delivers a stellar vocal performance, scaling the notes of the beat beautifully. His feature elevates the already-great song to a new level, giving it this element of sensitivity, and creating an exemplary PluggnB vibe. The beat was produced by Polo Boy Shawty—a legendary Plugg producer (D. Savage, UnoTheActivist, Warhol.SS, etc.)—it is smooth, jazzy, and soulful. The melody is blissful and serene, the lead is dreamy, and the drums are crisp; they synergize well with the other sonic elements of the beat. In the song, Tony talks about his lifestyle, past, and virtues; emphasizing his hardworking, ceilingless approach to music and life in general. Shhnow outlines his difficult upcoming and how he overcame it, as well as the decisions that he had to make, and how they have shaped him as a person. The sincerity and confidence that he exudes on the track greatly deepen the meaning of it. His flow and delivery are also pivotal and deepen this dynamic. Brent adds to the lyrical blueprint that Tony has already forged, singing about this hands-on approach to life. Just experiencing it; going after what you want with an open mind and hands, living your life how you desire. Overall, the track is cohesive and brilliant, hitting the sweet spot between melodic and lyrical.
